Classes & Workshops

Shanti is an 8 Elements Datura Style™ Certified Teacher and 200-hr Certified Yoga Instructor with over a decade of teaching experience.
In Shanti’s teaching, the main focus is on deep understanding of movement so that it can be fully and easily learned. Whether it’s the basics or complex layering, Shanti emphasizes technique and discovering the deeper experience of movement that comes from within.

Join Shanti Bardot and master musician Faisal Zedan for two very unique workshops on dynamic drum solos!
Part One on February 25th 2-4pm will be an introduction to essential drum rhythms, dance movements associated with these rhythms, understanding musical phrasing, visual cues for specific sounds of the drum, and communicating while you’re dancing.
Part Two on March 18th 2-4pm will further develop the ideas presented in the first workshop in the context of performing. Plus how to set up a well paced performance, methods of communication before you step on stage, what to do if everything goes “wrong”, and exercises to define your personal drum solo style.

All levels of students are welcome though it is recommended to join with the start of a series.

Shanti performs and teaches Tribal Fusion belly dance, specializing in fusing Arabic Folk Dance with contemporary dance and her own aesthetic. She does both improvisational and choreographed dancing, enjoying the different creative processes.
Having studied western dance and yoga for many years before belly dancing, Shanti understands the body’s movement from the inside out.
She currently performs as a soloist in the Bay Area and collaborates with fellow dancers throughout the West Coast.

After 5 years of Cabaret style belly dance, Shanti saw Rachel Brice perform at The Roxy in 2007 and began exploring this new world of Tribal Fusion.
Since then she has studied intensively with Rachel and is a certified 8 Elements Practitioner. She is also FCBD General Skills certified through Carolena Nericcio.
