April Specialty Class, Upcoming performances and Video from Tribal Trove!

Below are the details for the first of three specialty classes I have planned for this year! My idea with these classes is to give you the opportunity to really dig deep into one area of study that wouldn’t normally be possible with a regular weekly class.

P.S. Be sure to scroll all the way through to the end of this post for a video of my performance from Tribal Trove!

Bardot Specialty Class: Graceful Arms and Hands
Wednesday April 27th, 7:15-9:15pm
Ciara Dance Studio
21250 Califa Street, Woodland Hills, CA 91303

*Space limited to 8 students*

$30 before April 24th
$40 at the door, space permitting

Graceful arms and hands add a whole new layer of expression to your dancing that “claw hands” fail to deliver!
The main focus of this two-hour specialty class will be on arm patterns that flow naturally, create captivating silhouettes, and add drama to your performance. To achieve this effect there will be conditioning exercises for the arms, hands, and shoulders to allow for full range of movement. Plus exercises that will cultivate awareness of your hands to keep them relaxed while dancing.
Space is limited, secure your spot for this rare opportunity to focus on your arm and hand movements which will immediately enhance your dancing!

The focus of my next two class series (Jan/Feb and March/April) will be on learning the art of the drum solo! For me, this is often the highlight of a performance and I am very excited to share with you all my personal tricks for creating a dynamic and powerful choreography with simple, clear and dramatic movement.
In Part I we will be working on isolation patterns, the basics of a strong, relaxed hip shimmy, using the arms as frames for movement and tricks for remembering choreography! I will also be discussing basic drum rhythms and how they relate to bellydance movement.
Class Level: This is an all levels class and is a great introduction to bellydance technique and Arabic drum rhythms for those new to this material or who are looking to further develop their understanding of these topics. Previous dance experience helpful, but not required. Students will be given individualized instruction to help them grow and improve as a dancers.
Yoga will be included at the beginning and end of class for conditioning and relaxation.
